About this opportunity.
NWU’s Unit for Environmental Sciences and Management needs a senior laboratory technician for climatology research. The position combines field-project coordination, laboratory maintenance, atmospheric monitoring equipment, technical training and safety responsibilities.
WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES
Responsibilities.
- Coordinate staff and student deployment to field projects.
- Maintain field instruments, fixed and mobile laboratories and monitoring stations.
- Support data quality, transfer, archiving and equipment procurement.
- Manage technical safety measures and train students and staff.
CHECK BEFORE APPLYING
Key requirements.
- Certified electrician status.
- N-level certification covering fitting and turning and metalwork welding.
- A Level 1 first-aid certificate.
- Three years of relevant project, maintenance and air-quality monitoring experience.
- Three years of experience or training in electronics and data retrieval.
