About this opportunity.
North-West University’s Unit for Data Science and Computing is recruiting an emerging researcher for a Potchefstroom-based fellowship. The project centres on reliability modelling and accelerated life testing, with scope for Bayesian methods, independent research and international collaboration.
WHAT THE ROLE INVOLVES
Responsibilities.
- Develop the agreed research programme with the host scientist.
- Contribute independently across the research project.
- Prepare at least two research articles a year for submission to international journals.
- Present findings at national and international seminars and conferences.
CHECK BEFORE APPLYING
Key requirements.
- A PhD obtained within the past five years in statistics, mathematical statistics, reliability engineering, operations research or applied mathematics with a strong statistical foundation.
- Applicants must be younger than 45.
- A suitable peer-reviewed publication record.
- Strong statistical programming skills; experience with R and Bayesian computing tools is advantageous.
