A persistent underground water leak in Kanonierspark North has prompted renewed calls for JB Marks Local Municipality to inspect the site and complete repairs. The affected area is in the municipal road reserve behind properties in Eleazer Road, near Rissik Street.

Ward 7 councillor André Klopper said an earlier excavation intended to locate the problem had filled with water. He reported that the surrounding ground remained saturated and that water was reaching boundary walls. An overflowing manhole observed near Rissik Street was described as a separate fault that also needed attention.

A nearby property owner arranged an independent inspection after noticing possible movement in the building's foundations. The municipality had not publicly confirmed those concerns or issued a technical finding when the matter was reported.

Klopper asked municipal engineering officials to identify the source, limit further water loss, arrange permanent repairs and assess any effect on neighbouring properties. Residents should treat claims about structural damage as concerns awaiting an official technical finding.
