Residents of Ikageng Extension 6 faced another temporary interruption to their water supply while repair teams worked on a damaged main pipeline.
JB Marks Local Municipality spokesperson Jeanette Tshite said the shutdown was needed so the work could be completed safely. Residents were advised to collect and store enough water for household use, with restoration expected to begin after the repairs were completed.
The interruption followed other service problems reported across the municipality, including pump failures, emergency maintenance and ageing infrastructure. These recurring disruptions have increased frustration among communities that depend on reliable municipal water services.
The municipality's current budget includes planned spending on water and sewer infrastructure, with allocations for Ikageng Extension 6 and Greenfields. The repair team was expected to begin restoring supply after completing the work on the damaged pipeline.
