Why visit

The North-West University Botanical Garden covers almost three hectares and supports teaching, research, conservation and environmental education. Most plants are indigenous, with selected exotic species of botanical, medicinal or educational interest. Enter through the campus-side gate east of Dampad dining hall; the former Calderbank Avenue main gate is closed.

Best timeWeekday mornings are comfortable for walking. Spring and summer provide strong plant interest, but afternoon thunderstorms are possible in summer.
ParkingVisitors enter the NWU campus at Gate 1 with identification and use the parking area indicated by the university.
AccessibilitySome paths are paved, but complete wheelchair access across every garden section has not been verified.
